Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted byย That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week they provide a topic and you are free to use that topic and/or variations of that topic to make your top ten list. You donโt have to do all ten. Instead you can do three, five, fifteen, whatever you want. A full list of the weekly themes can be foundย here.
This week’s theme is Books on my Fall TBR. Now, I’m not one to set a definite TBR every month because I am a loud and proud mood reader. However, there are several books that I will be reading this fall and not all of them are new releases. One is even a reread!
The Bone Shard Daughter (The Drowning Empire #1) by Andrea Stewart – I’ve brought this book up in a few posts now but here it is again. Why? Because I am truly excited to read it! A book blogger and booktuber I very much enjoy, Dead Good Book Reviews, kept bringing up this book as one she loved as an ARC so I looked into it and it sounds fantastic! I picked this title up over the weekend and will be reading it soon.
The Silvered Serpents (The Gilded Wolves #2) by Roshani Chokshi – Happy Book Birthday, Silvered Serpents! This titled released today, September 22, 2020, and I can’t wait to read it. The first book in the trilogy, The Gilded Wolves, got a very solid four stars from me and left off with a lot of tension and a vast expanse of places for the story to develop. Not to mention, that cover is top notch. Can’t wait to dive back into this world! Feels like a perfect fall read.
Where Dreams Descend (Kingdom of Cards #1) by Janella Angeles – This one, I admit, I am a little on the fence about. Do I want to read it? Sure. The premise sounds interesting and it was a hype magnet prior to release but since its August release I’ve heard very little about it and its Goodreads rating has dropped which, I suppose, is to be expected. For right now this one is going on my fall TBR but we will see if I actually get to it.
A Reaper at the Gates (An Ember in the Ashes #3) by Sabaa Tahir – Yup. I haven’t read this yet. I’m more than a little ashamed of myself about that. I absolutely adored the first two books in this series but when this one was released I was in the middle of my patented mid-summer-book-slump and I just never got back around to it. However, with the final book in this series coming out December 1st I think it is time I take the plunge and get this book read!
The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon – Ya’ll, she thicc. I love Samantha Shannon’s The Bone Season series, her writing just speaks to me, so I snatched this book up the day it came out. But…this title comes in at over 800 pages. I’m not good with big books. My attention span is laughable so this sucker is intimidating to me. I’m determined to read it though. I know if I manage to get through it I will love it but it is going to take some dedication on my part.
The Wicked Deep by Shea Ernshaw – This is my yearly fall reread and it is utterly perfect for cool evenings, rustling leaves, and the general vibe that is fall. We have vengeful spirits, believable romance, shocking deaths, and the writing is perfectly atmospheric. I love this book. I have read it probably four times since it came out in 2018 and I fully intend to read it again this fall.

Thanks for joining me this Top Ten Tuesday! I hope your fall TBRs bring you nothing but joy. Stay safe.

*chants* Reaper! Reaper! I cannot wait to see what you think of the third book ๐ Also wondering about your thoughts on where dreams descend since I’ve officially given up on it…Great list!

I loved the first two of Tahir’s books so much I imagine I will adore the third one, too. A lot of comments on it on Goodreads involve the crying emoji though so I’m not sure what I’m getting myself into. ๐ฌ

Oh yes those emojis are completely justified, I won’t lie. But with the final book coming out soon, it won’t be long of a wait luckily lol

Wicked Deep looks so good.

It is amazing! If you like audiobooks I highly recommend reading it as audio. The narrator’s voice is perfect for the story and really lends to the foggy, chilly, murder seaside vibe.

I’m excited to read this fall! Which is great because up until September the last book I actually finished was back in May, I think. Summer is not prime time reading for me. ๐
