I’m a fickle human being. Sometimes when I set goals for myself I find them motivating and strive to reach them. Other times those same goals can cause me to go into full toddler tantrum mode, when I absolutely refuse to do anything I’m told, especially if I am the one who told myself to do it. For that reason, I try to keep my goals for the reading year reasonable.

TBR Leftovers | 2021 Edition
Every year I go into the new year with the best intentions. You know the list: have a more positive attitude, eat better, exercise, actually read the books on your shelves…
Well, I never actually read all of the books I intend to in the year (although I didn’t do too badly with the other items on my list). I do not think I will ever finish my entire Owned TBR, however, there are several books on it I had every intention of reading as soon as I bought them and then just…didn’t. So, I’m putting it out into the world. These are the book leftover from my 2021 TBR that I am determined to read in 2022.
Continue readingMost Anticipated of 2022 | First Quarter
2021 was a fantastic year for books! There were so many amazing releases. I understand that at lot of that was because of 2020 releases getting pushed back due to the pandemic but I can’t complain about the embarrassment of riches we got literature wise last year.
Continue readingFourth Quarter Releases on my TBR | 2021
The fourth quarter of 2021 is has already snuck up on us. Wasn’t I just writing my second quarter post last week? What happened? Granted, I always end up feeling like this at the end of summer. Summer is just…this empty span of time I have to suffer through. Some folks may love summertime but I am not among them. I grew up in the mohave desert and I never, ever want to be that warm again. The heat makes me think of misery and torture. But, that’s just me. Now that fall is here I am once again excited to get outside and get some reading done to the dancing of crunchy leaves!
Continue readingWhat Should I Read Next?
We have all done it. We finish a book, are in the mood to read another, but just can’t decide what to read next. No matter whether you are a TBR type reader or a mood reader, I feel like we have all been there at one point or another. Unread books run amok in our homes, our “want to read” files are miles long, ARCs are demanding our attention, but nothing is quite hitting the spot.
So, I thought today we would sit together and take a gander at a few of the books that are most drawing my eye right now and see if we can’t find something to read.
Continue readingJuly Wrap Up
Hello hello, and welcome to the July 2021 Wrap Up here on Literary Weaponry. I talk frequently about my yearly reading slump that happens, without fail, every summer. This year it started creeping up on me in June and really had it’s claws in me throughout July. What amused me most, however, was that despite this being my least productive reading month of 2021 it is right on part with my average reading in previous years. I don’t know what 2021 has done to me but here we are. I’ve been a reading machine.
Continue readingMost Anticipated Releases | Third Quarter 2021

Here we are once again, time for another quarterly look at my most anticipated reads. I feel like I just finished writing the 2nd quarter post and 3rd quarter snuck up on me and smacked me right in the face. For a year, March 2020 – March 2021, it felt like the world was at an absolute stand still and time wasn’t passing in any way. It was a weird purgatory. Now, since COVID vaccines have rolled out, it seems as if the world has started moving again and it had an entire year to catch up on. Everything is moving so fast. Ya’ll, I’m tired.
But, you didn’t come here to hear me whinge. You came here to look at some books. As this is a book blog that makes sense, right? Well then, let’s take a peak at upcoming releases for the 3rd quarter of 2021 that have me excited!
All release dates listed correspond to their US release
Continue readingJune TBR | Am I going to fail at it? Probably.
Previously here at Literary Weaponry I posted the written edition of my June TBR, which you can view here if you’d like. But, some of you know that I have also dipped my toe, mostly unsuccessfully, into book tube as well. So, for June, I decided to film a TBR as well!
Continue readingJune TBR
I’ve never been one to make a formal TBR. I am very much a mood reader and have always found the concept of a set TBR to be a constraining thing. Something to keep me squashed within a preconceived notion that I am required to follow along with like a prison in chains. To say the least, I’m not particularly fond them.
However…
I am behind on my review copies to an alarming degree. Well, to me it is alarming. I have one that I should have completed and reviewed by next Tuesday and another three in July. I typically read my review copies months in advance and have the reviews written and schedule, ready to go, so that I don’t get into a hopped up sense on panic with due dates. Unfortunately, that doesn’t seem to be happening this year so for the next two months I’m going to try setting myself a more strict TBR in hopes of getting these books reviews as I have promised I would do.
Continue readingThree Random Picks | Books on my TBR
Sometimes I just sit and look at my shelves or the books sitting on my digital TBR and I feel like I’ve abandoned them, left them out in the cold, sent them to bed without dinner…you get my drift. There are times when I wonder if I will ever get around to reading them all. The honest answer is no, probably not, but I like to pretend.
In honor of all of those books sitting on my shelves I’ve decided that even if I don’t get to them anytime soon I at least want to give them some attention. A bit of a gentle, loving pet if you will. To do that I am going to be using a random number generator to pick three random books from my TBR to talk about with you all every week. At least, that is the plan. The plan may evolve and change as we go along but this is as good a jumping off point as any.
