Throwback Thursday – Murder on the Orient Express (Hercule Poirot #10) by Agatha Christie

throwbackthursday

Renee began Throwback Thursday at Its Book Talk as a way to share some of her old favorites as well as sharing books that she wants to read that were published over a year ago. Books that were published over a year ago are almost always easier to find at libraries or at a discounted sale price. As I have been sifting through my TBR list and purging those books that no longer hold my interest, I came across several from years past that I’d love to share with you! Continue reading

WWW Wednesday – November 7th

WWWWednesday

WWW Wednesday is a meme hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words and was formerly hosted by A Daily Rhythm. It is open for anyone to participate, even without a blog you can comment on Sam’s post with your own answers. It is a great way to share what you’ve been reading! All you have to do is answer three questions and share a link to your blog in the comments section of Sam’s blog.

The three Ws are:

What are you currently reading?

What did you recently finish reading?

What do you think you’ll read next? Continue reading

The Burning Page by Genevieve Cogman

“The only problem is that it’s difficult to imagine something entirely new. We use the words and definitions of the past to shape our ideas. Something that is genuinely the next evolutionary step is unlikely to resemble anything we can imagine.”

I may, or may not be, ashamed to admit it but this is the first book I have finished in over a month. Yikes. First it was the reading slump, then a book hangover, after that I was sewing my daughter’s Halloween costumer together and let me tell you folks that was no easy feat. After that was NaNoWriMo preparations and then NaNoWriMo itself. Reading for pleasure just didn’t top my priority list.  Continue reading

Book Spotlight – Bonfire by Krysten Ritter

BOOKSPOTLIGHT

Each week in my Book Spotlight piece I will be bringing you an upcoming release. These books are ones I am excited about whether they be from a new or an established author. This week’s book comes from actress/author Krysten Ritter. She would be most recognizable from her roll as Jessica Jones. Ritter has now branched out into the literary world with her novel BonfireContinue reading

Top Ten Tuesday – Halloween Freebie!

b9791-toptentuesday2

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week they provide a topic and you are free to use that topic and/or variations of that topic to make your top ten list. You don’t have to do all ten. Instead you can do three, five, fifteen, whatever you want. A full list of the weekly themes can be found here.

This week’s theme is a Halloween Freebie! Happy Halloween! Let your creativity run wild with a themed post to celebrate! I must admit, I have never been terribly into Halloween. Sure, as a kid it was fun, but as an adult I must admit it was just fun to hang up a few decorations and light a few autumn themed candle. Now that I have a kiddo to take trick or treating it has certainly taken on a different light. In fact, I just finished sewing her costume. Now, lets see where this Halloween theme takes us, shall we?

This week I have a book from an author I have read multiple books by in the past. I have loved every book so far in this series and don’t see any reason for the newest one to be any different.  Continue reading

BOOKSPOTLIGHThalloween

Each week in my Book Spotlight piece I will be bringing you an upcoming release. These books are ones I am excited about whether they be from a new or an established author. This week we have an upcoming release from an author I have read two books from in the past. The first book in this series titled The Invisible Library got a solid 5 stars from me while the second book, The Masked Citywasn’t quite as good but was still entertaining.
