Ringing in the New Year

Happy 2018, everyone! I saw this tag at Bookmark your Thoughts and it seemed like the best tag to start the New Year with. I remember sitting down January 1st of last year and putting together my first book review for this blog which was for The Shadow Land by Elizabeth Kostova. Since then I have discovered so many new authors and opportunities and am looking forward to seeing what 2018 brings to the literary world.

Throwback Thursday – Bitterblue (Graceling Realm #3) by Kristin Cashore

throwbackthursday

Renee began Throwback Thursday at Its Book Talk as a way to share some of her old favorites as well as sharing books that she wants to read that were published over a year ago. Books that were published over a year ago are almost always easier to find at libraries or at a discounted sale price. As I have been sifting through my TBR list and purging those books that no longer hold my interest, I came across several from years past that I’d love to share with you! Continue reading

A Treacherous Curse (Veronica Speedwell #3) by Deanna Raybourn (ARC)

ATreacherousCurse

“I assure you, I am perfectly capable of identifying a phallus when I see one,” Stoke informed me, clipping the words sharply. “And that is no such thing.”

A Treacherous Curse (Veronica Speedwell #3) by Deanna Raybourn. I am going to preface my review with a a personal note. This was the first eARC I have received that caused jubilation. I requested this book from NetGalley never expecting to get it. When that accepted e-mail hit my inbox I legitimately danced for joy. I absolutely adored the first two books in this series, A Curious Beginning and A Perilous Undertaking, and to get my hands on this one early was wonderful. Continue reading

NaNoWriMo 2017 – WINNER

winner-congrats

That’s right folks. I did it. I completed my first NaNoWriMo. Official final NaNo word count is 53,200. I have already dove into editing and am really loving it. I’ve heard from others that editing is terrible and difficult but so far I far prefer it to drafting. The tweaking, adding little bits, correcting things that went a little off in drafting…for me it is fun!

Did you participate in NaNoWriMo this year? How did you do? Talk to me!

Top Ten Tuesday – Books on my Winter TBR

b9791-toptentuesday2

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Each week they provide a topic and you are free to use that topic and/or variations of that topic to make your top ten list. You don’t have to do all ten. Instead you can do three, five, fifteen, whatever you want. A full list of the weekly themes can be found here.

This week’s theme is Top Ten Books On My Winter TBR. I am personally one of those people that don’t often actually follow my TBR but there are certainly a few books I’m looking forward to reading when it becomes too cold to do much outside!
