Continue readingYou frequently hear authors talking about how preorders help them when their book is released. Their accumulated preorders leading up to the book’s release date all count toward sales during that first week which can help make or break that book’s performance or whether or not the author gets to continue writing that series or if they get a new contract with that publisher. Preorders are important to them and today I’d like to highlight some of the books that I currently have preordered for the remainder of 2021.
Continue readingFor many of us it still feels as if March 2020 is still going. That is when the COVID lockdowns began, social distancing measures were put into place, and the common person began looking at the weekly food shop wondering if it was safe. I for one embraced curbside pickup for everything from bread and milk, cat food from the pet store, and arts and crafts projects from the craft store to keep my child entertained. Maybe once this big pause on our lives lifts we can all mentally move on from March 2020 because as of right now I think that month that turned into year will be burned into our brains forever.
Despite how it feels, I promise you that January – March of 2021 has occurred and with it came a lot of wonderful new books, fun reads, and general joy in the bookish world. I personally have read more books in the first few months of this year than any other months in my reading life and most of them have been good! Let’s take a look back at the 1st quarter of 2021 at my reading here at Literary Weaponry.
Continue readingEarlier you may have seen me post my monthly wrap up in it’s usual written format. If you missed that or are interested in it you can find it here. However, I do post both here and on BookTube and if you sometimes enjoy your bookish content in the form of a chaotic, hyper active woman losing her train of thought every 45 seconds then boy do I have good news for you!

Continue readingHello end of March! I can’t say that I mind March as a month. It is when the cold claws of winter finally start retracting and I can walk out my front door without having my breath whisked away by the frigid wind. But, I think it is really the promise of change that brings me some joy. Daffodils and crocus start popping up from the ground, tiny buds begin to grow on trees, and the grass begins to turn from its winter brown to a cheerful green once again. And, my favorite, the winter depression slowly starts to lift away.
Continue readingEvery month I get excited when I see my OwlCrate box waiting for me in the mailbox. Sometimes I know what the book will be, sometimes I don’t, but I’m always anxious to open it and see what is waiting for me inside. So far in 2021 we have received a stunning copy of Lore by Alexandra Bracken and The Gilded Ones by Namina Forna as well as some fun and useful bookish themed items. When my March box arrived, I dove right in.

Continue readingWelcome to my January Wrap Up for 2021. This month we have seen the US capitol be stormed by racist, violent, fear mongering, hateful, terrorists. We have seen the worst president in US history leave the White House to be replaced by the oldest sitting US president and the first female, non white Vice President, the common people make fools of wealthy investors in the stock exchange via Game Stop, and (on a more positive note) some truly amazing book releases.
