If you are a fan of YA literature, and don’t live under a rock, you probably have heard about the New York Times YA Bestseller List. For 25 weeks, The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas has been in the top spot and deservedly so. Yesterday, when the updated list was announced, The Hate U Give had been bumped from the top spot. Taking it’s place was Handbook for Mortals by Lani Sarem. Continue reading

First Line Fridays – August 25

First Lines Fridays is a weekly feature for book lovers hosted by Wandering Words. What if instead of judging a book by its cover, its author or its prestige, we judged it by its opening lines?
- Pick a book off your shelf (it could be your current read or on your TBR) and open to the first page
- Copy the first few lines, but don’t give anything else about the book away just yet – you need to hook the reader first
- Finally… reveal the book!
WWW Wednesday – August 23

WWW Wednesday is a meme hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words and was formerly hosted by A Daily Rhythm. It is open for anyone to participate, even without a blog you can comment on Sam’s post with your own answers. It is a great way to share what you’ve been reading! All you have to do is answer three questions and share a link to your blog in the comments section of Sam’s blog.
The three Ws are:
What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next? Continue reading
Book Spotlight – Ash Princess by Laura Sebastian (Upcoming Release)
I’ve been kicking around post ideas in my head for a while now. For some time all I mostly did were weekly memes with a review thrown in every Friday. It felt stale, boring, and lacked originality. I began trying to come up with different post concepts and this one popped into my head late one evening as I watched Jon Snow do his brooding hero routine on my TV screen.
The idea is to spotlight a new or upcoming release every week. I hope to showcase mostly new/debut authors with this but there will certainly be some favorite or well-known authors thrown in as well. Lets give this a shot and see how it goes, shall we?
Down the TBR Hole #7
Hello and welcome to this edition of Down the TBR Hole! I’ve finally reached the part of my TBR list on Goodreads that I actually, at least vaguely, remember adding. Exciting, isn’t it? Yes? No?

Mini Review Friday!

Welcome to Mini Review Friday! Sometimes we read books that just don’t need a full on, 1000(ish) word review. Maybe it was just an uninspiring book or maybe it was a DNF we still have a little something to say about. Whatever the reason, I have a couple of books for you this week that are getting the Mini Treatment.
Throwback Thursday – August 17

Renee began Throwback Thursday at Its Book Talk as a way to share some of her old favorites as well as sharing books that she wants to read that were published over a year ago. Books that were published over a year ago are almost always easier to find at libraries or at a discounted sale price. As I have been sifting through my TBR list and purging those books that no longer hold my interest, I came across several from years past that I’d love to share with you! Continue reading

Why We Read

Every person is made up by their past experiences. The sum of those experiences makes them the person they are today. Their likes, dislikes, wants, needs, and dreams all have root in moments and memories. One of these moments from our past influenced us to become readers, we didn’t just wake up one morning with a yen for a good book without some kind of outside influence. Continue reading
Down the TBR Hole #6
Welcome to this week’s edition of Down the TBR Hole! Most of the books this week I have added within the last year and I still have very little memory of them. That either says something poor about me or about the books and I’d rather not delve into that at this hour. Anyway, here are some books from my TBR that had me scratching my head.
