Books that were published over a year ago are almost always easier to find at libraries or at a discounted sale price. This week on Top Ten Tuesday, our theme is Top Ten Yummy Foods Mentioned In Books (Does a character eat something you’d love? There is nothing quite like an eye catching book cover, is there? It can pull you in and beg for your purchase without you even knowing anything about the book. Author Amanda Foody announced her next book, Ace of Shades, a few months ago. Since I loved her first novel (cover and all), Daughter of the Burning City, I was excited to see what Ace of Shades would bring.
Yesterday was the big cover reveal for Shades and I have to say that I am a little disappointed. I like the blood red almost wallpaper background and the imposing shadow of a sinister city but the card tower is very lackluster. It just doesn’t have the pizzazz I was hoping for. Each week in my Book Spotlight piece I will be bringing you an upcoming release. These books are ones I am excited about whether they be from a new or an established author. This week we have an upcoming release from an author I have read two books from in the past. The first book in this series titled The Invisible Library got a solid 5 stars from me while the second book, The Masked City, wasn’t quite as good but was still entertaining.

The idea of not finishing books causes different reactions in different people. There are those that are adamantly against it and finish every single book they pick up no matter what. Period. There is the type of reader that does accidental DNFing. Those are the folks that put down a book fully intending to pick it back up later and just don’t. Then, there are people like me.
