Here we are again with Genevieve Cogman’s The Invisible Library series. This is the fourth book in the series that I have read and reviewed and Cogman never disappoints. We are once against back with Irene Winters and her friend/coworker/dragon/assistant/whatever Kai. They both work for The Library whose employees go between different worlds and dimensions in search of rare books to bring back and add to their collection. A Treacherous Curse (Veronica Speedwell #3) by Deanna Raybourn. I am going to preface my review with a a personal note. This was the first eARC I have received that caused jubilation. I requested this book from NetGalley never expecting to get it. When that accepted e-mail hit my inbox I legitimately danced for joy. I absolutely adored the first two books in this series, A Curious Beginning and A Perilous Undertaking, and to get my hands on this one early was wonderful. Continue reading

I may, or may not be, ashamed to admit it but this is the first book I have finished in over a month. Yikes. First it was the reading slump, then a book hangover, after that I was sewing my daughter’s Halloween costumer together and let me tell you folks that was no easy feat. After that was NaNoWriMo preparations and then NaNoWriMo itself. Reading for pleasure just didn’t top my priority list. Continue reading

I bought Roar back in June when it was first released and it has been sitting on my shelf ever since. The cover is lovely and it was nice to pick it up, look at it, and put it back down from time to time. I even opened it once and made it through the first chapter before I put it back down again. Why was I hesitant about reading it? The book has been billed as a fantasy romance and, well, romance just isn’t up my alley. Finally, last week I was feeling blue and thought a little romance might be just the pick me up I needed so I reached for this book and settled in on the couch with a steaming cup of tea. How long has it been since I have done a full length book review? Legitimately it has probably been about two months. Yikes! I haven’t necessarily been in a reading slump but I haven’t felt that need to talk about what I’ve read, do you know what I mean? If a book leaves me with a “meh” feeling I just don’t have anything to say about it. I’ve been reading a lot of “meh” books. However, Linsey Miller’s Mask of Shadows left me with a different feeling.
